PortaNet and Miromico presents CycleCounter® – a LoRaWAN™ based IoT sensor to embed intelligence into doors and windows

PortaNet AG and Miromico AG have announced the release of the new CycleCounter® (patent pending) product line. As a result of a long-term cooperation between Miromico AG and PortaNet AG the CycleCounter® is globally the first IoT Sensor for window and door management. Given the tiny form factor of this LoRaWAN™ compliant wireless sensor, it can be placed between almost any door or window and its frame, thus making it completely invisible. Our innovative solutions can transform any office, home or facility into a truly smart building.

LoRaWAN™ is an open LPWAN system architecture that operates in the unlicensed wireless communication spectrum. It is developed and standardized by the LoRa Alliance, a non-profit association with more than 500 member companies. The communication standard is quickly gaining popularity for low data-rate applications, while keeping batteries alive for years. Indoor applications are particularly suited for LoRaWAN™ since private networks can be easily built using the open LPWAN system architecture. Using PortaNet’s complete cloud-based solution, multiple parameters can be directly measured and sent to the cloud. Additional notifications can be sent to predefined people. The sensor is equipped to measure open/close cycles, position of the door, temperature, humidity, acceleration and inclination of the doors and send notifications upon reaching configurable thresholds. If a service is due or a door is open that should have been closed the system automatically creates an alarm.

Together with Miromico we are able offer a unique miniaturized sensor for innovative facility managers, property owners. It is also of interest for windows and door manufacturers to directly integrate the sensor at production.
— Andreas Lehmann, CEO PortaNet

In combination with MyPortaNet and the NFC based mini-label QID-TAG™ PortaNet AG can offer a full-fledged cloud-based solution targeting cost and risk reduction.

In cooperation with PortaNet we contributed and combined all our knowledge to create a new unprecedented device
— Alex Raimondi, Director Embedded at Miromico AG

Together with our global partners, we are able to deliver tomorrows state of the art Internet of Things products already today. The complete solution of MyPortNet, QID-TAG™ and the CycleCounter® LoRaWAN™ sensor will be presented at the Swisscom IoT Day 2020 in Zurich, Switzerland.
